  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Europe will be now even closer to you for sure. I'm just exited as you are. Obama has the habit to act and speak with a lot of truth, knowledge and intelligence. Could it be, that he have read more than one book? I guess so ;-) I am very proud to be a part of this historical moment and have a lot of hope, that we will stick even closer to each other.
 
Im in the UK, every one I know is happy about all this. A new start......

The whole world is watching and I think we could all use a little change.
 
I may be the rain on the parade but... come on people, he is just another politician with all the attendant megalomania and burning desire to control others that comes with that career choice.

The overriding difference with Obama is that the guy has had completely unattainable expectations placed on him. No matter how little damage the guy does, he can never live up to the mythic greatness that has already been draped over his shoulders.

Maybe he will do less harm than his predecessor, it's hard to imagine him doing more, but it is disturbing to see this irrational and near maniacal cult of adoration around the man. It makes me wonder if the desire to worship god kings is too deeply ingrained in us.
 
I think that's the point...the idea is to have a man inspire positive feelings that can be turned not just toward him but toward ourselves and neighbors. That positive attention will manifest into trust and mutual respect which will inevitably grease the wheels of commerce (globally) - restore faith and confidence so as to heal the worlds economies....methinks
 
I think what he has done is a masterful job of being just vague enough so that the largest number of people can hang their own personal ideology on him. He is like an abstract in which everyone sees what they want to see.

Indeed.

One would think by now that history would have taught everyone not to heap such lofty "hope" on any politician, any human being for that matter. It is dangerously naive. How many times does this have to happen before reality sets in? People worship this man and he hasn't done anything yet. The only thing that will "fix" this country is it's citizens not being so insanely irresponsible, which makes it all the more hilarious that so many place that responsibility on someone in the government.

Nothing wrong with being hopeful, but Let's save all the unabashed praise for an actual accomplishment.
 
I'd say that restoring at least some of the people of the worlds faith in the US is a pretty major accomplishment for his first day.
