i found my perfect shotgun mic... its the Neumann KMR81i... i decided that after hearing all the sound test made here... http://www.kenstone.net/fcp_homepage/right_mic_brockett.html#Schoeps CMC641 - CMC6U

the schoeps cmc641 are really nice.. though i cant depend on a mic when i'd have to watch out for people who are even tip-toeing.. its a sensitive mic.

...I chose neuman due to its off-axis rejection... it gets noisy with many people on set... and i cant take any risks.. the mic company claims that it's designed specifically for ENG... now that scares me.

anyhoo.. i found the audio natural... warm... and realistic.

the problem is i now need a mic to record ambience... can anyone show me the direction?

The mic you have will be fine for mono ambience. For stereo, well, what's your budget?

another $500 - $1000 for ambience.

im getting a neuman mic.. soundevices 302.. gitzo rod. shock absorber... lots of cables.

if you go down the link i gave above... go down to the environment and male voice over... you will hear that neuman's good 1-3 feet only.. i dont want to bump the gain so much to get ambience. its a very good shotgun mic.
