  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I'm getting rather tired of moderators removing my posts. I'm not attacking anyone or breaking any other rule of conduct. Yet my posts are repeatedly removed. I'm sure a moderator will respond to this thread with some thoughtful response saying I'm causing some sort of problem, which I welcome, I'm not trying to cause any kind of problem. I just can't understand why my posts over the past couple of days have been repeatedly removed.

Heck they might just outright ban me without explanation, I have been nothing but respectful, thoughtful and IMHO a good contributor to the forum.

I'm also curious to why my posts are removed yet someone like Sanjin's aren't. Now if anyone attacks various people/products/companies it's that guy. But since he's a Pro-Red guy I guess they let him say whatever he wants and not censor him.:rant:

Hey Adam,

I must admit that when I read your post claiming inside information from the Red lunch room I suspected it might get pulled and rightfully so. Discussing release dates is one thing, claiming inside knowledge in another.
 
Red and their associates aren't as secretive or tight lipped as they want you to believe.
 
I was not the one who pulled those posts about inside info, another moderator beat me to the punch. The point is you have nothing to substantiate it, it's hearsay, it's not an official statement from RED... It's bad form and truly meaningless, regardless of where you may have heard it. Or to put it bluntly, your recently deleted posts put you in the ranks of a FUD-packing troll. You claim you're not breaking any rule of conduct... Perhaps you should review some of the posted forum guidelines and perhaps do a google search on common forum etiquette while you re-evaluate your statement.

I say this with all due respect intended, or deserved. But to be honest, I feel like there's a handful of members lately that need to be followed around with a shovel.

I pulled your post, because it was completely unsubstantiated hearsay.

If you want to say, "Jarred said X on dayY about subject Z," then by all means go ahead. But claiming hearsay and not having the balls to actually say what you heard, where, and how.... well... I left that sort of thing behind in high school. Same with "but gee Mods, he got to keep HIS post" and dark conspiracy theories about bulletin board posts.

If you'd like to be banned... keep it up. : )

So any posts that aren't directly cheerleading Red products is considered inappropriate? I wasn't saying anything negative towards Red, but I guess that's not enough for some.

That's fine, I tried my best to contribute positively to the cause. I thought people here would be excited and would want to know something about release dates since there haven't been any official announcements. I know I was excited when I heard that info from the Red/associated folks. But I guess my knowledge isn't desired because it wasn't directly from Jim/Jarred etc.

Now that I know there are unwritten rules here and what some of them are, I'll try to follow them. Congradulations, you just figuratively "kicked the dog" of a customer that was excited about being apart of, and contributing to, this great community.
 
I really wish I could give the names of the guys who stated the release time of next year. But unlike you guys I don't know the red guys by name, one face of the guys in the conversation is on the front page of the website though if that helps...

I heard this info last week at Red Studios by one of the Red guys whose face is on the front page. That's considered unsubstantiated hearsay? Okay, sorry.

I'm not trying to piss anyone off here guys, I've been nothing but courteous to everyone here and all I keep getting is negative feelings back.

I'm not trying to be a smart ass but, seriously, do I have to start and end every comment with "I love Red and everything they do!" If that's the case then I will, I want to be a positive contributor to the forum. Apparently I'm not familiar with all the necessary protocols to be apart of the forum, I don't even know what FUD means. I'm trying to learn which is why I posted this thread, I want to learn what I did wrong.

Again, now I know some of the rules I'll try to follow them. Since every post I do is miss understood:

"I love Red and everything they do!"

I usually read and not write. There is often too much fanboy cheering or blatant RED negating that I feel we readers have to wade through prior to finding pertinent info.
Reading this thread is as painful as being back in high school.
moderators please understand that we all need rumors to keep us bouyant as to upcoming prospects and Adam understand no one will take you seriously for long with unsubstantiated rumors or a willigness to bend yourself into the LCD - "I love Red and everything they do!"
 
You're missing the point. The point is that repeating hearsay from a lunchroom, breakroom, etc.. from people you don't know, from a company you don't work for, is just unprofessional and wrong.

FUD is an acronym, which means Fear Uncertainty and Doubt.

To further address your "insider knowledge" and also to reinforce why hearsay is unprofessional and dangerous, is we have no frame of context. What cameras, for example? RED will be releasing four (4) different DSMC "brains" that use "Mysterium-X" chips. We already know that some of those are "next year". Jim already said so.

As I have told a few other members here in the past few days, who question why their posts are removed or why people get upset over their posts... It's not so much about what you are saying, but rather how you go about saying it or in what context it is said.

Thanks for that, Ray. Have you posted a name change request in the Real Names forum -- in the Recon section? If you have and nothing has happened, send a PM to Jason Ramsey as he's the one who can actually change your name. May want to do that either way.

You should respect the company's right to release their information in their own way, in their own time. It is a privilege of visiting their house and having unprecedented access.

Speaking of context; most of the posts in that thread, at that point, were talking about when they thought the cameras would be released. Some weren't sourcing anything, others were sourcing from what they thought they remembered someone from Red said in a post at some point.

I thought my contribution was along those lines, if not more informative, because of where I got my info. Even if I did know the Red person's name, why would I want to speak for them, I'm nobody.

The point is I felt my info and posts were in the spirit of the thread, rumor and hearsay, so I contributed. I'm not trying to be an official spokesperson or anything. The internet and this forum is fun because of all the rumors and hearsay that gets spread around. I don't understand why some are talking everything a nobody like me said so seriously, loosen up folks.

Not trying to get involved but unsubstantiated statements followed up by inconsistencies does not help your cause. I read your post earlier and you stated that Scarlet wouldn't be released until next year, now you are saying "Epic" while both DSMC they are different cameras.
