  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

CONAN!!!

By months you mean years....Conan did have only seven months though. To hear people say the writing staff on Conan's show wasn't funny is unreal. The guy was a comedic genius. I don't want to get into it because it's purely opinion, but whatever.

Conan had a great show last night and what he said will be remembered for a very long time.
No, I mean quite literally that it took 18 months for Jay to beat Letterman in the ratings when he first came onto the air.

NBC pulled the plug before Conan had a chance.

I just watched that last Conan Tonight Show.
Not only is Conan one of the funniest comedian's I,ve ever seen- IMHO,
he has quite a bit of class. He handled everything with dignity, style and humor.
I think we can all count on him having another show in seven months.

Though unlikely, i really hope Conan takes Revision3's offer.

I think Rev3's business model REALLY is the future of television.

Network TV in its current form is doomed. In the hey day the networks were the dominate players, now cable programming is chipping away. Soon, Apple, Netflix, Hulu and YouTube will give us A'la Carte programming direct to our 4K displays in the home. Within a decade, the network TV map will be redrawn.

I totally agree. I also think that shows like Conan's will be more independent. Why should someone like Conan restrict himself to a single network or media outlet?

If I were Conan, I would self-produce my own show and offer it up via on-demand PPV services, iTunes, etc.. If he does strike a deal with another network, hopefully he doesn't hand over control and still retains distribution rights. Pretty much offer his show into syndication as well as IP distribution. That's the way I see a lot of this going over the next several years anyway. As I understand it, he walked away with most of the rights to his show and it seems to be a very marketable commodity. He's well known enough, he probably doesn't even need iTunes. He could probably freely broadcast his show live to his own web site and serve up streaming versions of all previous episodes and let advertisers float the boat.

If someone (Jobs or Jim, this means you) had the testicular fortitude to do an a la carte streaming virtual network then CoCo could make the ideal centrepiece.

I have this vision of a "network" run in a broadly similar way to netflix.

You get a choice of programmes at each 'timeslot' (although not at a fixed time) with certain shows being included in a basic package, and others at a premium. It would also entitle you to a selection of movies along with certain 'fixed' shows such as a nightly news slot, a late night talk show and other staples.

Even then you would have a choice; news could be from your preferred broadcaster; do you want BBC, Fox or CNN? The only fixed thing would be a CoCo-esque cornerstone show; time-shiftable but something you cannot opt out of (at least not without a fee).

In essence you could build a weekly TV schedule only featuring the shows you want. Some of these fixed shows would get the generic ads, but used selected programming also allows for some interesting targeted advertising opportunities. You could build an ad package based on the shows each individual watches.

I know this is starting to get a bit Orwellian (and long winded) but it does interest me.

Did Rev3 seriously make Conan an offer? After hosting The Tonight show I think Conan would probably rather get a show on Fox.

Fox won't take NBC's rejects....
I think Jay was talking with FOX and forced NBC's hand.
Many NBC stations were ready to pull the plug on Jay at 10 PM.
Conan's blame Jay strategy will work about a year, like
Obama's blame Bush strategy has run it's course.....

By 2011 if Conan has not done anything then I doubt you will
see him again. :nopity:
