Hey,
My first Red Cam project. I just cut a short project with Redcode 2k at 2048x1024. When I send to Compressor to make standard sd dvd using the Best Quality 90 minutes setting compressor is not preserving my aspect ratio via letterbox. I get 16x9 and squished heads when I import into DVD Studio.
Would love some help.

2k 2048 x 1024 is like 16:8, not 16:9, so as Karilla mentioned, you have to either change the padding or aspect ratio.

Also, go into the video quality setting and boost up the transferring rate for the best result. The default transferring rate with Best Quality 90 minutes is not good enough.

Thanks. The padding did help. You have to eye-ball it but works. I see what what you mean about the bit rate too thanks for the heads up.

Would you have any suggestions about a good Redcode 2k to DVD workflow? The end result being a good looking DVD.

to fix the 2:1 in 16:9 issue in compressor, just check the "letterbox" setting under the "filters" tab in "inspector". Keep the tabs at "Type: Scale, Position: Center, Output: Manual then type in the resolution adjustment to 88.9%.

2:1's height is 88.9% of 16:9's height.

works perfectly for me.

Or drop your 2048 2:1 Sequence into a 1080 Timeline and Fit the footage by scaling into the 1920 window. Giving you a choice of creating a letterbox or Chopping off the sides to create 16:9. I usually frame for 16:9 when I shoot. Giving me some cropping and Positioning in Redcine. So I tend to chop of the sides or "Fit to Height" (as seen in Red Alert / RedCine / RedRushes)
