Interesting. I also just noticed this article on Ken Stones site:

That's a good article, albeit Steve fails to mention....a very important item---working with WHAT type footage. So he may get decent performance working with h264 footage, but now put into that 5k R3d's and your performance drops off the map. I can work with prores and h264 on fcpx with no big issues...but now go to 5k and well.....FCPX just does not work...in fact you just cannot work with that footage with an NVIDIA graphics card. So to me it seems like we must now choose FCPX or Pr.Pro (if those are your two top choices-as mine are)....Well, i can use my laptop for FCPX, and tower for Pr.Pro....but what a pain.

Yeah my macbookPro retina has been impressing the hell out of me.

10-4 on that....and my 2008 17" works just fine with FCPX---in fact better than my maxed out tower with rocket card.
