Hello people!
Just stumbled across this great forum, and couldn't find any thread related what I was wondering about. So I jumped into a new thread. Note, I have no experience whatsoever with the RED camera, and have only used DVX/HVX and a shoulder XDCAM by Sony (don't remember the models name, prob 2004-05 model).
Over to the questions. Director Ramon Boutviseth have made two videos for american metal band Trivium. Their latest video was done with the RED camera. Both links are to myspace, so the colours are a bit more "pale" than on a QT video, but at least you can judge them equally.
Video1, RED: http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?f...searchid=ccc4a896-6f94-4185-8797-0736e21c3db9
Video2, Unknown: http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&VideoID=20203531
Video1 is really nice. And I'm shocked at how great you can make your footage look with the RED if done right. Is this a normal "straight out of the box"(not to be taken literally) look for RED? Might be very hard to answer, but judging by the video, what kind of lenses available for RED were used? Slow mo looks really good too, but not as good as in video2.
Video2 is one of the best metal vids I've ever seen. It's an easy concept, brilliantly executed with it's skilled camerawork and editing. What kind of camera could create that kind of film look? Is it impossible to make it like that in HD? I think the slow-mo is too good to be HD.. Or is there any other tools that could help achieve this kind of look? After Effects?
Lots of questions there.
If it's against forum rules, to discuss(ect) others work, then have my sincerest apologies. If not, thanks for listening! :turned:
