I saw that earlier today and that was pretty cool! I appreciate the capabilities of the camera for slow motion but I haven't needed it much personally, although some RED One MX 2K 120fps did come in handy for one shot on my first feature, however it could come in handy on our next film but we'll see when we get there. With slow motion tech becoming more available I wonder how long it will be before somebody films a feature film in 480fps or something like that. Definitely a camera worth keeping an eye on!
This would begreat to rent, since a Phantom is unreasonably exspensive thousands a day to rent.
Yeah, It really would be a great alternative for super slomo scenes at high resolutions. Plus it would probably be very reasonably priced for multi day rentals.
Hey Rand,
I saw one package in the NYC area renting on Sharegrid for $500/day and $2k for the week. That's not bad if you really need those frame rates.
I imagine Freefly's strategy is to hit rental houses and those looking to rent the camera out as opposed to the traditional owner/operator market.
Slow motion at these speeds is definitely more niche and for very specific shots which is a perfect scenario for rental.

Thanks Brian for this info! Yeah as Andrew Dease expressed earlier in this thread, daily rental prices for the Phantom cameras are really high this would great unless you really needed those ridiculously high frame rates of the Phantom Flex.
To be honest I'm starting to float the idea of renting one for a potential shoot.

The quality of the images look good enough. If you do rent one, maybe you could gift us with a few sample images.
