Director: David Kellermann
Cinematographer: Stefan Dux
Camera: RED One M
Lenses: Nikon (24mm f2.8, 28mm f2.8, 50mm f1.4, 55mm f2.8 Macro, 100mm f2.8, 135mm f2.8, 2x Tele-Converter)

A spec ad for the region "Schwarzwald" (black forest). It was shot in one day on a RED One with Nikon AI-S lenses and Redrock Micro Equipment. I directed and edited the clip, Stefan Dux did the cinematography. The girl is portrayed by Alisa Goutach.

Update: I recut the clip and graded it in DaVince Resolve.

It was great to finally shoot on a RED after filming the last years only on an HVX200 or s16. Hope you like it:)

Good god. I could watch this all day long. Some truly excellent shots in there.

Hi david nice shots on red.

At present film on Panasonic HPX171 7 HPX301, like everyone one waiting for Scarlet.
l was thinking about buying Red 18-5- and 50-180 but it seems l can use nikon or cannon lens with red at a fraction the cost! is this so. As always money can be tight but image quality is very important what are the pros and cons.

I shot this clip and an other one which will be online soon on the RED One of my DP. Myself, I'll buy a Scarlett FF35 as soon it's available. I love the Nikon AI-S lenses for the stunning image quality, but there are some downsides like the (heavy) breathing, especially on my favorite lens, the 55mm AI-S Macro. But: if money is tight and you planing to buy a FF35, I would get some old Nikons and put a gear ring around them (like the Redrock Micro ones). The rehoused Nikon lenses from FocusOptics look very promising too, but they wont be cheap.

@Tom: Thanks for your compliments. It means a lot coming from someone like you who himself composes so beautiful shots.

nice slow motion , but is it low light there ?

We had some light problems because the weather was changing from minute to minute (bright high contrast sunlight, fog and rain). So some shots came out a little bit to dark. When I find some spare time, I'll regrade some shots in After Effects.

Pulling focus with the Nikon primes can be a little tricky as they travel very fast from one end of the focal plane to the other. The Zeiss ZF primes are built way better than the Nikon primes. You feel like your working with smaller cinema primes when you use them. Plus the focal throw is much longer in the Zeiss primes than it is in the Nikon primes. The only Nikon that I kept in my kit was the 80-200mm f2.8 Zoom. That lens is awesome.

The Zeiss ZF lenses are very good, still they are a little bit expansive. You get old Nikon glass which has nearly the same quality used for a 1/4th of the price of new ZF lenses. Also, the focus ring travels on old AI-S lenses mostly around 180°. Only the new AF lenses have such a small focus rotation.

The Zeiss ZFs are a little more expensive but you get what you pay for. I kind of felt the same way about the Zeiss lenses until I got to hold a set of them. They are built rock solid and the focus rings are dampened just like a cinema lens. I've never dealt with the old Nikon lenses but maybe one day. The focal travel on my Zeiss 85mm f1.4 is around 270°. Not sure about the 50mm f1.4 but I know the travel gets smaller as the focal length gets wider. I'll measure it out when I get home tonight.
