  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

come on Red, keep us informed

Sorry but I don't get it. RED has always given an indication about timeframes, shipping dates, etc. When has this policy changed?

I think they give information when they have it. Jim said he will post when they start assembling the cameras, until then I can only guess things are too uncertain to give a timeframe. They indeed have been pretty good about keeping us informed, but they, and we, have come to realize, they've often had to push back dates because of unexpected events. I can understand they now want to avoid having to do changes again, particularly as they are about to start shipping numerous cameras (including mine).

We're all in the same boat,
cheers,
Damien

I know, I know. But maybe if we keep asking we get a picture of the new lens mount...

We are only waiting on the new lens mounts.

I will post the day we start assembling cameras.

Jim

In the rush to get cameras out, I'm assuming someone is doing spot checks on these new mounts for tolerances - a pretty critical component!
:nerd: :calm:

There is no '30 day rule' to get accessories ordered ... I enquired at IBC and was told to get the order for accessories in ASAP (10% deposit) - do not wait until 30 days from 'expected' delivery date before doing so ...

Cheers

This is incorrect. Below is an email I sent to RED and the reply I got back:

Hi,
My company, Shatterglass Studios, ordered a RED #456. It seems our time is
coming up very soon in December and so I was wondering when we need to place our order for accessories and what the payment requirement is and the
procedure for which it must be done.

Good afternoon Luke,
We will be contacting you 30 days before your Red one ships finalize
payment and add any accessories you might want at that time. Please let me
know if you have any questions.

Delivery info would be good! I have the $$$$ sitting in the bank. If it is sitting there January 1st it is considered profit and I would have to give a chunk up to the tax man!!!

I am #115, no call or email yet. I hope soon! I can't wait!

Based on what Jim said, it's quite possible you can take it as face value. By this I mean they are all sitting over there waiting for the damn truck to arrive. If they were still "working" on the lens mount then I think Jim would be pushing things back and telling us by now.

I think we are very very close to building cameras.

What has been brought up that IS concerning are the various accessories. REDDrive, EVF, etc have been a long time coming and I see no reason why there is not a more precise schedule for these items.

It sucks for Jim to have us bugging him CONSTANTLY
It sucks for us to operate in the dark in a number of areas close to shipping.

Basically it just sucks.

:)
