I think I speak for a lot of future red owners - we all are able to wait and keep in patience. But it would be so good for us to have some more informations, we can tell those people who are calling us every day to see or to rent a Red one.
The last information we got was 500 cameras to be delivered in decembre (hopefully), but there only a few days left in this year.

And there are so many unanswered questions about viewfinders, storage options and and and....

make a change in your information policy - also bad news are good news !

Chill out everybody. These guys have their engines at full speed. They have been more than responsive by a long shot compared to any other camera company or company for that matter. You/we will be the first to know.

Red Ones will begin shipping again exactly on ... oops there's the phone....

Ok I'm back. As for the accessories the EVF with new firmware for simultaneous viewing is being tested right now by Offhollywood. The 50-150mm is in final stages of testing and Jim is currently putting the Red Drives through their paces. These will be announced for release on ... darn, there's that phone again...

Did any cameras ship on November 30th? I've looked around and I must have missed something because I haven't seen people asking about it. We have been patient ... we just want to know if the schedule is holding or slipping again.

Thanks

All I know is that I am #456. So I am in the batch that Jim said they were planning on shipping before the end of December.

The only problem is that Red said they would call 30 days before our camera shipped to get our accessories order and they haven't called yet.

Again, I don't mean to be complaining ... I'm just wondering ... Jim said they need some luck to be done in time ... that was on the 29th. I assumed that "in time" meant by the 30th of December.

no such thing

no such thing

There is no '30 day rule' to get accessories ordered ... I enquired at IBC and was told to get the order for accessories in ASAP (10% deposit) - do not wait until 30 days from 'expected' delivery date before doing so ...

Cheers

Absolutely, you should have had your accessory order in with a ten percent deposit on those accessories you wanted. They will contact you, (email) and let you know what balance is required for camera and what accessories they can ship. For myself the only accessories in my order which haven't been announced for production yet are the Red Drives, EVF and 50-150mm Zoom. Everything else should ship this month.

I agree. Until now there has always been a date on which shipping would begin or more information would be available. On the last two dates Jim said he would announce something he basically said he didn't know. So now there's basically no information anymore.

Problems with the mount and the boards are fixed. I think it is fair we get at least a date on which we get more information.

Hey I just got back from the beach, I swear I saw Jim there selling soda. I guess the whole Red camera thing must've fallen through after all..

Mind you, he was sporting the best shades I've ever seen! Also his Bugatti was parked nearby and I happened to see the number plate: RED-HA-HA

Um .. just a sec.

This has been spoken about on the board before, twice actually, and I was pretty sure we were going to get a 30-day notice email and that res holders 'wouldn't have to worry about pre-ordering accessories'. I'm absolutely positive that this has been mentioned at least once. If this has indeed changed at some point, thats fine, but I haven't received an email stating that I now need to order asap .. I read the forum for at least a couple hours every single day, and I'm still under the impression that I just have to wait for the 30-day notice as well ? Perhaps I just missed it, but maybe that would be a good case for why some kind automated mailing list could be a nice idea..

My res is still scheduled to ship Dec30 on the 'current schedule', but Jim's last post states that he's trying to get another 500 or so out by Dec30.. which does NOT include my res number. Jim also stated recently though, that future shipments (which I understood to mean Dec30 onwards), would NOT be affected by the delay.

Whatever Red needs to do is totally fine by me (even though I'm under the gun like everyone else - they have done more than can be expeted for us), I'm just a tad confused now :)

Craig have you received an email yet? I haven't and 30 days puts us past when jim says they are trying to ship.

I'm #206
I remember the same thing. Also, if the RED drives and VF aren't shipping all I need is the LCD and the CF adapter and a couple cards, barely more than the resholder credit, so do I need the deposit?

I just want to know what's going on. Are cameras about to ship ... or does red just not know ... or something else? I know people get annoyed when people like me ask about ship dates, and I don't mean to be a bother, but we have been waiting a long time for this groundbreaking product, and I would like to start scheduling things as soon as possible.

I'm in no way shape or form answering for Red, but I know the posts you're referring to, and based on those, logic and my dealings with Red (a very fair-minded company), they seem like they are going to take care of people as soon as they possibly can based on when they get their cameras.

I'm sure they don't want 100 camera owners to not have drives while people with drive reservations have theirs. It would make sense that they want camera owners to have as fully functional a camera as they can get.

If the 30 day notification applies, then most likely most cameras will not be delivered in December, as mentioned by AquaVideo since 30 days from now will put us in January.

Hope that I'm wrong though!! And I wish Red all the best and will be able to deliver in December if possible.

We are only waiting on the new lens mounts.

I will post the day we start assembling cameras.

Jim

Sorry but I don't get it. RED has always given an indication about timeframes, shipping dates, etc. When has this policy changed?
