During a production, if some scenes were shot with the Red-One in 4KHD at 24fps and others at 30fps, are there any problems combining those in post ? Does one have to be altered to match the other, and if so, can that be done in Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 during editing ?

Please explain the steps involved with altering the frame rates so they match.

Any and all help is appreciated.

Thanks.

Big issues.. All footage should be the same Frame Rate..

Quick Fix: You can "right click" your footage roll over to "Modify" & "Interpret footage" "Assume this frame rate" type in frame rate you want to conform too.
PS- your audi will prob need a slip to sync ever now and then..

In PPro, you don't HAVE to use the interpret footage... I often have to mix 24P and 30P in PPro , and I generally look at how much footage of each frame rate I have... unless I only have small quantities of 30P (like 10-30% 30P, vs 70-90% 24P) I will generally create a 30P timeline, and drop ALL the footage in...

If I am MOSTLY 24P, I may just drop the 30P footage in as is. For me, it really depends on whether the footage is A-Roll or B-Roll. If its A-Roll, I'll leave it unchanged... if B-Roll, I may "interpret" the footage per Owen's note above, which will "slow" the footage by 20% and which may not be desirable, but depending upon the shot, may end up not being a big deal.

In either of these cases, all the "non-timeline" type footage will usually have a "render required" bar (yelloe or red line) across the top, but generally will still play decently... if you are having issues, set the "play back" to a lower resolution... this will NOT change the actual output, just the scrubbing quality.

HOWEVER - If you are mixing 30i or 60i in, that's a whole different story...
