Colorista 2 has been announced. If the specs tomorrow don't have CUDA or Mercury supported acceleration, forget it, I'll rather save my $200 bucks for $1000 CUDA Davinci Resolve Mac.

If it is accelerated it will solve a a whole lot of problems.

I must say it does have a whole lot of features beyond the previous three ring version. It has, secondary and tertiary power windows, Color keying, hsl, lift, gamma, gain, precise individual color selection and tweaking like the Autodesk color warper, a little calculator.

$100 more. but a whole lot of new tools. Also it is GPU and CPU accelerated independent of the host NLE.

Yeah they'll raise price. But looks very promising. And if you buy the old version within the next 9 hours, you'll get a free upgrade to version II. Stu confirmed this multiple times, so you might want to act quickly.

a lot of good new features proposed, very powerful instant keying, skin blemish cleanup whilst maintaining detail, curves, skin tone overlay like in mojo, ability to work with third party tracker info, cpu acceleration in PPro for red 4k,

Just watched the demo, looks very interesting indeed, and might offer a better r3d workflow from FCP than even apple color, via clipfinder and adobe dynamic link. My question is, can motion tracking tools in AE be used in conjunction with colorista II? in conjunction with mocha would be ridiculous, and is everything key framable? If these are all yes answers, i'm sold in a heartbeat

Anyone using Colorista with control panel like Tangent Wave? Or is this possible? Lim

all data from Mocha AE can be applied to Colorista. AE's built in tracker works well with REd and any very high res footage. The ultimate will be when the Foundry releases its 3d tracker for AE. I have no clue about a control panel for colorista. A track ball or Space mouse is pretty good. I will still wait for DAvinci resolve though even though I bought the $99 upgrade for colorista.

I just finished grading a feature film using Colorista inside FCP7. Not a perfect solution, but a fantastic tool non the less. Was unable to use Color for the grading (could not find any good plugins for grain removal) and Colorista did a great job in conjunction with grain removal tools.
The S16mm film looks fantastic, even though the footage is 10 years old, transferred to 1080p digital files.
Being able to use multiple instances of the plugin allows for primary and secondary corrections + power windows. The new keyer is a fantastic addition to the package, and being able to reset individual colors within the wheel is fantastic. Any way you look at it, a MUST HAVE tool in every editor's toolkit.

I bought mine as part of the Magic Bullet Suite back in April. Any idea if this free upgrade applies to me, too?

Unfortunately, it does not - everybody who bought Colorista 1 after June 15 gets the free upgrade. If you didn't get the email yet, you don't qualify for that freebie. But the $99 is well worth it.
