  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Color settings for prores422 on Epic-W?

IPP2:

REDWideGamutRGB
Log3G10

As long as they know how to use IPP2 in post.. I'd say for safety, and what I do for a fast 422 1080 turnaround is Red Dragon 2, Red Gamma 2. I use Red Gamma 2 to get the colors started but not overly contrasted. To each their own but if the person doing post doesn't know IPP2 you may run into a headache..

I use redlogfilm...zero complaints.

Hey guys so I have a client who wants to shoot ProRes 422 redlog on the Epic-W. What color settings would you use?
I would convince them to use ProRes 444 if you possibly can. Barring that, 422HQ is not too bad, but I would avoid regular 422, particularly from a camera this good. DragonColor and RedLogFilm can work OK. RWG and Log3G10 yield a slightly different image -- try tests with both and see how they color-correct.

I was just told redlog.
Is there a reason I shouldn’t be selecting redlogfilm?

Because this is new starting point before grading any RED footage now. Its more in line with other log footage from other cameras.

I often give the work in prores only. I use the IPP2 medium+medium and all settings backed in. Or if I want to spend more time in post I have the color in monitor but I record the flat image. I find very nice to grade the flat prores
