If anyone has any ties to apple could you maybe send this request along, or maybe could answer if there's any plans for this functionality in the near future:

One of my favorite features of the red software is the white point picker, which in effect is automatically making your tint and Calvin adjustments, i know we can do this manually but i'd really love having the picker. When new clients come in to look at the red that's one of the first things a show them to showcase the R3d codec's RAW functionality!

Any ideas if this is already in the works, coming soon, (coming when fcs3 comes whenever that might be), or if maybe this can be passed along to the higher ups? wink wink

thanks,
~T

Passing it along to the higher ups now.

I like the suggestion, at the speed they move at Apple I can only hope they do it one day.
For now to archive similar results.
I use the geometry room to narrow down to a small white portion of the screen.
Then use the primary color wheels to white balance via the vector scope.
Its a longer workaround.
But your white balance picker is cool.

Thank you.

You can type the values you get in RA into the RED room in Color – which is far from perfect, I know…

If you are in the primary room, and you enable the quad view with the 3D color space representation, there are 3 pickers you can set into your prievew. Depending which color space you´re in, you´ll see RGB or HSL values which help to get white. It´s not automatic, but i use it quite often.
