So I shot some stuff with my epic, colored it all in Red Cine-X Pro and when I save my RDM it automatically saves all the files to a random folder on a completely different hard drive on my computer. Then if I import the R3D files into Premiere the color looks I did don't come through. Even if I right-click a clip down at the bottom and select "send to Premiere" It transfers without the look as well. Am I missing a step?

If you right click on the clip inside of Premiere and then click "source settings", you will see a button that says "upload from RMD" or something to that effect. Your grade should then show up inside of Premiere. Although, I don't believe Alchemy changes will transfer.

I have the same issue. RCXP is set to save the RMD, but Premiere doesn't recognize my changes even when I ask it to reload the RMD in the source settings.

I'm no expert on the matter but it sounds like there's a disconnect in your workflow. If you are indeed saving your changes in RCXPro and reloading in Premiere then you should see your changes. Did you by any chance rename your R3D's? Or are you separating/removing the files from their source folder? If so, that could be the culprit. I make sure never to disrupt the source files. If not, then I don't know what to tell you. Hopefully someone with more experience can chime in and point you in the right direction.

Red cine pro should not be saving your files to a new location. If you have "automatically save RMD" checked in RED Cine, the file should be in the same folder as the r3D file. You should even be able to see the RMD file if you browse to the file location, it will be saved along side the R3D file. If it is not there, then something is not right with your RED cine X process. If the file is there, and it is an updated file, check the file creation date, then there is something wrong with premiere.

I copied the entire contents of the SSD card into it's own folder let's say "ROLL 1" then I navigate there in RCX-P and load my footage into the program then color it. The only thing I can think of that might be the problem is I'm editing this off an external hard drive the client supplied. Could that be a problem? If the files aren't on a main drive on my computer?

So here's what's happening. A few weeks ago I was editing something let's say on "DRIVE A" called "Project A" I edited it, colored it a bit in red-cine but didn't end up sending those looks to premiere. I ended up doing my one lights in the source settings inside premiere. Now this week I'm editing "Project B" on an external hard drive the client supplied me called "DRIVE B". When I navigate to Drive B in redcine I add all the R3D files then color them, then click "save RMD" and when I import to Premiere nothing updates. So if I go back to red cine and right click one of the clips I colored and choose "Send to Premiere" it will send the file sucessfully to premiere but with no updated color information. So next if I right-click the colored file in red cine and choose "show in finder" it opens up 30+ new RMD files that is has saved (not contained in any folder but loose) in the Project A folder on DRIVE A. I've been editing Project B footage off Drive B. Any ideas why it's saving everything there?

Also what's the difference between RDM and RMD?

Patrick,

In RCX-P, go to preferences and in the general tab make sure the 'Master RMD Directory' is blank (click the clear button) and the 'Automatically Save RMD Files' option is checked on. This will save the specific clips RMD file in the same folder as the .R3D clip itself. This is where Premiere looks for the RMD files.

It shouldn't be a problem working off multiple external HDs
