Color Grading/Correction - Learning Resources?

[SandeepDey]

Hi all,

I desire to educate myself a bit about Color Grading and Correction. I am primarily a director, but I want to learn enough to know how easy/difficult I am making my colorist's life when I OK a take.

I would appreciate it if I could be pointed to some books or online resources which would give me nutshell overview of the process and a brief insight into the art.

Thanks,
Sandeep

Are you wanting to learn about color theory and styles or more about how to use a program such as Color? Apple has some simple intro tutorials on Color.

I'd recommend "The Art and Technique of Digital Color Correction" by Steve Hullfish.

Thanks Raul, Nomad,

I am more interested in the theory of color and how corrections are effected in post (Color or any other tool). I don't forsee myself trying to grade/correct.

Appreciate your responses and time, gents.

Just by chance something I came across today about the color concept of Black Hawk Down:
