  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Collister Dragon Test for ASC

Thanks Peter.

Great footage!

thanks Peter for posting and thanks Jim and the Red Team for pressing on. It's like a new beginning..Lim

Thank you Peter, lots of nice details to study. Great work. I hope to see it one day in 4K ;o)

(I was just recently shooting some trees in a similar way, with that in mind -- your Dragon footage looks just fantastic to me.)

Wow, looks absolutely amazing! The gentleman looking out the window blows my mind. That kind of shot sticks in my head because I was so disappointed the day I got my XL2 a million years ago after my first shot was someone looking out a window and seeing it blow out and the subject still impossible to see. Now if someone would get a decent 4K monitor on the market at an affordable price!

Nice

What ISOs did you use for the light bulb and sparkler shot?

How much cleaner is the than MX for these types of shots in your experience?

What ISO did you expose for on the day exteriors?

Did you vary the ISO and see how the over/under key distribution changes?

How do you feel the over/under key distribution falls at a specific ISO or multiple ISOs?

I'm assuming this was a primaries only grade out of the alpha RCX you were given?

On the portraits you are exposing mostly for the shadows. I see an noticeable eyelight. Did you bounce the sun back or is this a reflection of a lit building?

Thanks for posting these tests and answering our questions. If you have time to answer any of these that would be awesome!

wow, thank you Peter. This is the first time I said this looks amazing to any of the Dragon footage thus far. For the night stuff at the pier, what was your ISO?

Lovely test. Thanks for sharing! :)

beautiful...great tones....that beach shot is what i was hoping to see...

btw: kids, dogs...close to the beach....looks like my neighborhood:)

Peter,

Really beautifull and pushed in the areas we all expected to see great performance. Thanks for your time, and sharing it with all of us.

There's lots to like here. What I'm really digging in this footage (because it's been a pet peeve of mine) is the colored light sources in the night scene are holding their saturation. Red is red, not pink. Yellow is yellow, not white. All the Christmas lights are solid colors and not white with colored halos. Those are usually dead giveaways that you're watching digital video and not film.

For those worried about rolling shutter, there's a strobe that goes off in the night shot as well that lasts for one frame in a couple of spots and I don't see any tell-tale banding.

Also, I'm not usually a fan of shots of flowers and such but I thought that last shot was striking when I first saw it.

BTW, Phil is right. Watch the 663MB version.

Thanks for sharing, did you have the single XL redvolt on there as well?

so you can ask any question about the camera and the footage and you ask about the battery? ;) hahahahahaha

Just kidding
