Collectors Sale: Red 0008 and "London"

Hey Kennan! Good to hear from ya...

I'm assuming you've been out in the wilds of Big Sur again. Bet you've been getting some good footage for sure...

Yup...I'm selling Red 0008 and London...London now, then 0008 after I receive my first Epic. Very tough choice to make, but I explained my reasons in my thread-opening post, and some of the other posts on this thread.

Give me a call...something tells me you didn't hear about me just barely surviving the giant earthquake and tsunamis in Chile a few weeks ago. No...I'm not kidding. Call me and we'll catch up...

Peace Braddah!

Hope enough people are aware of this thread Steve. Hope the big ones are already biting.

Thanks...I've been getting many inquiries and some preliminary offers. This is getting very interesting...:)

Since you can't tell us the best offer until the buyer agrees to the info being public, what's the SECOND highest bid?

Sorry...can't say Joseph :)

There's a very good chance that confidentiality on the sale price will need to be maintained on a permanent basis. This said, these cameras are very unique, so we're breaking some new ground. Red One cameras like them, an extremely low serial number camera and a city-named pre-production camera, have never been offered for re-sale before. I expect that my cameras will sell quickly, and I'll ensure they go to very good homes.

Haha, I figured. I can't wait to meet you in Vegas, and good luck on the sale!

I would be surprised if there was any other outcome. Any divulgence of sale price might set precendents that could influence other sales.

Sorry its in the Red One overview with Rory Hinds, page 5 of the Hardware channel. Its on a steadicam.

That's not my Red 0008 in that video, but thanks for bringing it up anyway. There are two Reds in the video: Rory Hind's Red 0068, and when he had to send 0068 into Red for some work, Red sent him out a loaner camera for his production, with "Demolition #8" in bold engraving on the smart side of the camera. Looks like at that time Red had a fleet of loaner cameras named "Demolition #_" numbered sequentially 1, 2, 3, etc., which including a Demolition #8.

I've never rented out any of the four Red cameras I've owned. My cameras have always been used either by myself, or under my watchful eye by someone on my own crew. That's why they are in nearly as-new condition - my TLC and watchful eye :)

Yes RED did send me Demolition#8 to use while my #68 was in repair, couldn't ask for better support.

That production was for Microsoft Lionhead Studio and the camera performed fantastically.

When I got my #68 back I shot CERN for Angels & Demons which was a lot of fun.

Namibia - a travelogue

Namibia - a travelogue

Gibby,

I would suggest when you get Epic Tatoo maybe could go to one of the landscape paradise location in Namibia,

also just purchased and saw it

Luminous Landscape Video Journal - Issue 19 HD720P

"Namibia - a travelogue

Michael & Andy Biggs lead a photographic tour of Namibia in south-western Africa
Visit with them the eerily beautiful abandoned mining town of Kolmanskop where buildings are being slowly swallowed by sand dunes.
Then visit the area of Wolvedans, a 'moonscape' of stark rocks and grassland. The highlight is a visit to Sossusvlei and Deadvlei where
giant red sand-dunes soar above the stark remains of 800 year-old trees. Finally travel by small plane up the Skeleton Coast over seal
colonies and the remains of iron ships to the far northern border area with Angola, visit the stunning Hartmann Valley and the nomadic Himba people."

Very cool Rory, and good to hear from you on this. That's also been my experience with Red tech support over the years - timely, thorough service.

You have an office in London. There should be some camera collectors in London seriously interested in my city-named (by Red), pre-production camera "London", which is described in this thread by myself.

If you know of such an entity which may be interested in London, please email me their information at steve at cut4.tv. If I close a sale with them, I'll pay the referring party a 6% of the gross sale price referral fee.

Yes Sanjin, I'd love to shoot in Namibia! Namibia has always fascinated me...

Over the years I've worked in Africa several times filming wildlife, adventure travel, and alternative sports. There are so many great locations and subject matters in Africa!

Wow, that seems so long ago now! Looking at that clip on the Reel show takes me back.
