Hi
I’m trying to convert an old steadiccam pilot to work with Komodo/ DSMC2.
I need to replace the steadicam’s internal component video cable with either an sdi or HDMI one to go from the camera to my Smallhd monitor.
The main problem is I can’t find a coiled 12g bnc cable which is needed to allow the Steadicam post to extend.
Does anyone know who makes coiled 12g bnc cables? Elvid seems to make them but are out of stock with B&H and Amazon and there don’t seem to be any other distributors.
The other solution would be to use a coiled HDMI 2 cable, does anyone see any problems with going this way, is it still possible to blow the port when using HDMI cables?
Is it possible and reasonably safe to use a coiled standard bnc cable from a good manufacturer, Wooden Camera, Shape etc. ? I know the standard advice is to only use 12g cables but where this isn’t possible does anyone run with standard cables?
Due to the locking connector I would rather use sdi than hdmi. Should I use non 12g bnc or hdmi 2, any thoughts appreciated?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
