I'm looking for a web coder who would be interested in helping RedRelay reach the next level- user interaction.

This person would need to be able to code a database and build a system that would allow users to login and manage all their clips including the information associated with them.

The proffered technology is whatever works. If that's straight PHP- if it's a Joomla back end- I don't really care what it's made of as long as it's stable and it works.

I would be able to pay a small fee, but nothing major.

If you want more details, please email info@redrelay.net

Thanks!
Chris

Might help to post specific information about preferred technologies and skills.

It doesn't matter to me. I'm familiar with some PHP, but honestly, if a coder knows how to get the job done another way that's stable and not going to go out of date, I'm open to it.

I've been looking at rentacoder, but would rather give redusers the opportunity to respond first. :)

How small a fee?

How small a fee?

Just curious how small a fee. Are we talking $10,000, $1,000?

I would recommend PHP and MySQL but you're looking at 100 hours easily to build something from scratch you'll be happy with. Joomla could simplify but there will still be a lot of custom coding, testing, UI design, Javascript/Ajax and security work. Unless you have software architecture or database design experience, avoid the rentacoder route. The hard part isn't the coding or the sql, it's the database design, the program structure, the commenting, the testing and the UI that takes so much time. You'll also want to use something like Smarty templates to separate the html and javascript from the PHP so you don't have a spaghetti mess no one can read or debug at the end. Even if you use a good template from templatemonster.com as a basis for the UI, someone will still have to convert that into variable-based smarty templates and hook it to the PHP.

I'd love to help out if the price is right...

My suggestion would be start with something like Joomla that has a membership structure already built and have one of the Joomla enthusiasts build the add-on you need. I wouldn't be surprised if there's already some Joomla add-on that has some of the functionality you'd need created.
