Hey all,
By my research, ProRes seems to be the winner when it comes to quality vs compression. But of course H264 is the winner in terms of supported codecs, simply because it’s been around so long and offers decent quality per compression (I think).
Is H265 poised to replace H264? Or do you think there will be a generational jump to the next codec by the time H265 is fully supported?
I’m assuming there’s a ton of licensing issues behind the scenes that are contributing to the problems with full implementation.
Also, in your experience, how do you feel H265 compares to ProRes?
