Two of our RED one MX's are on a shoot right now and are both regularly experiencing Codec errors. This is occurring during a take. The cameras are master/slaved on a quasar 3D rig. Both cameras are build 30. They are shooting 16:9, time base 23.98, with a range of frame rates and recording to CF cards. This error comes up regardless if we are in 4k or 2k and any of the REDcodes.

The whole shoot is out doors in hot humid weather. The cameras are running almost all day and are usually in direct sunlight. they are being stored over night in the camera truck, so they are never really getting a chance to cool down.

I have seen other threads with the same conditions and the same error while shooting 16:9, but this was a problem in build 15 and 21. I was wondering if this sound like a hardware issue or a firmware issue. It seems like the new Beta build 31 addresses some of the codec errors and I was wondering if it may help in this situation?

Hello, same problem,
I have "CODEC FAULT"
Very strange, with 2 diferents Camera.
It happen 2 times.
We decide to switch off the camera and it was OK.
But on a Commercial, it is very unconfortable to not be sure the shot will be ok or not because of "CODEC FAULT".
thanks to help us.

Please go up to the latest beta build.
