Just spent the last couple of days prepping a 3 min trailer for a feature for a DI grade.

Footage is from builds 15, 17, 20, and 21 (film was shot over three years). Aspect ratios are all over the place.

Clipfinder took the FCP XML and found all the shots across three volumes, including handling in and out points on a clip used twice.

It then handed off a lua script to REDCINE-X 326 which opened up everything just fine (except for cropping some old 3K footage a bit wrong) and then it was simple to apply RedLogFilm and output DPXs of the whole sequence in realtime thanks to the REd Rocket.

Three years ago when this film started production a workflow like this, achievable on a single Mac Pro, was unheard of.

Thanks Hans, and thanks to the REDCINE-X team for supporting really old files even in the latests versions.

I'll try and post a finished trailer when it's done.

Biggest problem I had getting this all to work was that RCX would crash exporting some older shots if the gamma was left as the metadata setting, ie REC709 or other older curves. Setting everything to RedGsmma or RedLog fixed that,

Hi Cail,

When you output the DPX, does Redcine X output full length clips or just the edited sequence.

Clipfinder 2.5 sends clips to REDcineX with in and out points marked. So you only get the parts of the clips used in your edit (plus handles if selected in either Clipfinder or REDcineX).
