Clipfinder Mov to R3D

I have a FCP XML in Clipfinder
I change the MOV to R3D using the command in the menu.

What does this actually do?
Does it change the XML file?
I see no option to save the XML changes so does it change the XML and save it without prompting the user?

Hi,
try tools->Run Conform on FCP XML file. Point at your input XML file, pick a name for the output file. Leave the "extract clip name" as <pathurl>tag, check the checkbox for replace clips with whatever level proxy you want to connect them to and hit Run Conform. This will create an XML file that you can then import in FCP.

"Replace MOV with R3D" relinks from transcoded Quicktimes back to the R3Ds.
It applies only to the Clipfinder document; it does not change the XML.
(If you want to change the XML you need to use the conform feature).
Why would you want to relink to the R3Ds ?
So you can edit look settings, render at a different resolution, copy the originals, etc.
