  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Clipfinder 2.0: Free Workflow Tool for OS X / FCP

ok i see.
will restructure the files then we will see.-----ok my little red experiments did disturb clipfinder...
now it works.

thanks

Anyone used Crimson and Clipfinder? How do they compare for conforming?

Since you have asked this before and nothing is coming forward: Clipfinder currently has only a very simple conform feature. In particular, it requires that you render all needed clips at their full length. It also expects you to do the one-light in REDAlert. The Clipfinder Help has a very detailed description of what the conform feature does.

Crimson, as I understand it, provides more sophisticated conform features and relies more on REDCine for corrections. More importantly, Crimson is by now thoroughly tested by many RED users and Ian is committed to supporting it.

Whereas I, unfortunately, cannot guarantee timely support, which is one of the reasons that Clipfinder is free.

I just downloaded and tryed Clipfinder.

I want to say a big "THANK YOU, HANS" for that great job. It will be much more easy to work with .R3D, and it improves my beginning workflow.

If i can help you, please ask ! If you come to Paris, I will be happy to offer you diner.

Thank you for the excellent tool. This is saving me a ton of time and is making my files much easier to organize and access. This is huge. Where can I send the donation?

Fantastic ...

Fantastic ...

Great tool ... Clipfinder + the Red tools (RedAlert/RedRushes) and RedCine has not been touched for days ;-)

Meryem,
It's very kind of you to offer a donation, but if it helps people with their projects, than that's enough of a reward for me. There's so many people here on REDUser that have helped or inspired me (as I'm sure you have inspired people with your UWOL projects). This is my way of giving back.

Best wishes

When I try to 'run workflow with selection' I get the following error 'Unable to find file: file://localhost/Volumes/A001_0917GE/A001_0917GE.RDM/A001_C002_09170T.RDC/A001_C002_09170T_001.R3D' on Redrender. Any idea as to the cause?

I'm sorry, Russ
This is a problem that was accidentally introduced in Version 2.0.1.
If you download the current version (2.0.2) from

www.daun.ch/software/Clipfinder2.0.zip

it should work.
If it doesn't please let me know.

Cheers

Hans,

I think I am having some trouble with the final steps on a FCP conform. I have set up an automator and followed your steps through for importing an XML file. At the configure task pane I set in my settings and choose my output path and press start. At this point a green check appears next to the "results" bubble. If I select the results bubble I get a list of all my clips. However nothing is rendering.... What going on? Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any help. Taylor

The results files for each clip look like this
"/Volumes/REDStorage1/Civilwar/A006_0920SU.RDM/A006_C002_0920U2.RDC/A006_C002_0920U2_001.R3D"
Taylor

Hmm...
The action does not complain about not finding the files and the file path from your example looks ok (no spaces etc.).
It could be that the render parameters are not what REDrender expects. I have seen cases like that.
Can you send a screenshot of your render settings ?
If necessary, my E-mail address is in the help file.

Cheers
Hans
