Hi all,

Long time member; very occasional poster!

I've got a Komodo I'm renting and I'm having a problem with clip names as sent out via SDI: they are different than the OMF clip name. Here's an example:

A006_A004_04014J_001.R3D - OMF
A006_C004_04014J.mp4 - clip name coming via SDI

I'm seeing the SDI clip name when using a Teradek Cube 655 to a proxy on the Cube's SD card.

Thanks!

The "001" refers to the different fractions of a recorded file. It splits the file in the R3D folder, but will show up normally in any NLE. Not sure what you're workflow is? Shooting R3D and using proxies recorded out through SDI? Beware of the SDI drift in timecode though. Outside of that I think that the names will match up whenever you try to link proxies to original files, but that needs to be tested.

Thanks for the info; that's interesting. There's no reason I can see the the file would be split - and the original file isn't being split; it's just a single file. I'll have to do some more research.

"Shooting R3D and using proxies recorded out through SDI?"

Yes, exactly.

I think that even though it's a short shot with only one segment it still names it "001". And be aware that there can be a timecode sync drift through SDI. I would recommend doing lots of tests for this workflow before doing it for productions.

I got an answer: it’s a problem with how clip names are transmitted via SDI. They can come *after* (and, in some cases, significantly after) the stream has started. The Teradek has to work around this and, in some cases, this workaround fails.
