I am testing Clip Finder to create 1080 DPX from the R3D files.

I imported the xml and replaced clips from QT to R3D then went to quick render made my proper set up for rendering DPXs. I am noticing that it seems to render the whole R3D clip into DPX, but only the ones used from my xml. I don't need all the extra DPX frames. Somebody run into this? Am I doing something wrong? Please help... just testing a different workflow.

Thanks.

Is this your problem?

Taken from the conforming section:

http://www.daun.ch/software/ClipfinderHelp/conformingafinal.html

"Final Cut will create a new project using the high-resolution clips instead of reference files or low-resolution clips but with all your edit decisions, filter settings, etc. carried over. Because you are now working with high-resolution clips, editing performance will be slower, but you can fine-tune the edit as necessary, including moving In/Out-points (i.e. the Conform operation does not lock your edit)."

Therefore it renders the whole clip?

So do I need to make a new XML From Clip Finder referencing the DPX Files?

What I am trying to do is make DPX Files for final composite before grading happens. The GFX dept. will need and xml to import the DPX (hopefully trimmed). Is this how this works.

Thanks.

I couldn't answer your question... but perhaps this option could help?

"Render the clips you need for your project using the QuickRender function in Clipfinder (CMD-G). Make sure that the "use RSS In/Out-Points" option is deactivated."

Perhaps selecting it would trim your footage to the needed one????

Todd,

The current version of Clipfinder does not extract in/out-points from the XML.
I do have an alpha version that can extract in/out-points and render just between in and out, but I do not have a conform process that can handle partial clips.
If you feel that this version would help you, send me an e-mail to the address given in the Clipfinder Help Pages (CMD-?).

Cheers,
Hans
