  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

clip finder goes away?

First STORM, now Clipfinder. It's a shame, but of course I understand why.

Both had the potential to do one thing which REDCINE-X will never do, i.e. support mixed timelines, including cameras other than RED. Now it will never be.

A true shame. Over the last three years Clipfinder has been an essential tool and we all owe a debt of gratitude to Hans for his generosity and vision. To this day the versatility built into Clipfinder surpasses any other solution and will be greatly missed. Let us hope that the features within clipfinder that still have no other comparable option will make it into RC-x.

Again, a great big thank you to Hans-Georg.

Seriously,

Clipfinder filled a massive void when there were not many great solutions out there. Monkey extract is also gone as well.

The great news is that RCX P is becoming a very refined tool and will have a lot of functionality going forward.

Sad news is that we loose brains like Hans in the general RED community.

:)

A big fat thank you for creating software that made RED post very viable and easy for many years. (YEARS!)

While I understand the situation, its sad to me because Clipfinder is the only piece of software that I use on every job, no matter what camera we shoot on. Glad that the latest version still has some nice conform options that willl continue to work into the future.

It may not be developed further but I still use it regularly and it has got me out of some jams. Need smart guys like Hans who understand programming and filmmaking at very high levels in order to make workflows as smooth as possible. I salute Hans and his efforts, especially early on when the post world needed such a tool to make RED fit into their existing pipelines.

That's unfortunate - Clipfinder can still do a few things that other software cannot. I'm using it every day.

Thanks, Hans-Georg, for all you have done to evolve the workflow and support the software.
