  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Cleaning the RED sensor?

Ketch, thanks for the info. I just placed an order for the FireFly based on your recommendation.

My pleasure Curran, Isn't what this forum is all about? Sharing our experiences with good product that other can benefit from? While been part of an unprecedented event?

ciao

Tin oxide is the coating that goes over the olpf or frontmost cover glass. Red doesn't have tin oxide on the OLPF.

Thanks Deanan, The guy at BH sold me the tin oxide lens cleaner for sensors that have the tin oxide on the OLPF and I had to use it for removing a stubborn particle on the sensor...is this really really bad? I wont use it again.

The tin oxide ones like E2 can leave alot more streaks. It not clear yet if E2 will adversely affect the OLPF. In general, regular eclips is less strong than E2.

Which Photo Solutions cleaner?

Which Photo Solutions cleaner?

also i preferred the photo solution #2 swaps over the visable dust swaps ...

Which of the two Photo Solutions cleaners are you using, Eclipse, or E2?

And do you find it more useful to use the pre-moistened swabs, or just do it yourself?

Thank you
Nelson

sorry, when you refer to cleaning the sensor, you mean the glass that you can access after you remove the lens cap. right? so you just clean the glass. sorry if this is a question tooo unprofessional :*)

you mean the glass that you can access after you remove the lens cap. right? so you just clean the glass.

The sensor is the shiny bit down inside the camera - the actual CMOS chip that turns the visual image into data. To get to the sensor the lens must be removed from the camera.

The lens is a different matter and would be cleaned by normal lens cleaning methods.

yes but I never try to reach down there to avoid any damage, but I looks like there is some glass or something right where the camera body starts, where the pl mount is mounted. So do you mean I can reach down all the way to the sensor?

is there a way to clean the glass protecting the actual sensor? my R1 has a minor mess from a poor clean and i need to get the glass protecting the sensor cleaned. I'm not referencing the OLPF, this is the glass behind the OLPF.
