I am flying out with the RED in backpack from Regan International in DC
My backpack 43lb pretending that it is just 10lb

Two young security guys inspecting luggage at the x-ray machines.
Is this the underwater camera?
Not quite, I answered.

The second guy comes closer, looks at my bag,
aaaa...this is this new camera, whatchamacallit....RED

Andrew! you saw the INSIDE elements of the camera????
Can you describe it to us, how it looks?

filip

Looks like all inside components are RED.
It is because all explosive elements shows up on the x-ray machine RED:-)

Well it has 5 cards inside from what I have seen.
Also one at the front Mysterium card and one at the back, back-LCD/joystick card.
Cards are mounted in a missile electronics fashion, you know, round pipe full of control boards.

What did surprise me the most though, that guys from completely not related, airport security field, knew the name of the camera. Maybe they evaluated one for the airport security surveillance, that I am not surprised, judging on superb resolving power of RED with good zoom lenses and fully motorized control if need be.

My son's dental anesthesiologist knew about RED and his friend who's a dentist has a RED on order. It's exciting to see the camera open up new possibilities for people.

My favourite from recently - client hadn't used RED before, was a little skeptical talking to agency creative...

Agency Guy: "Well, Peter Jackson has bought quite a few"
Client: "Oh really? Well is Peter here, can you flop him out for us?"
Agency Guy: "..."

Deanan, did dentist order his camera for private use?

Actually, I believe it was for real production.

Dork.. who said that? :)
An indie filmmaker friend of mine. He came to "set" the day we shot Kung Fu Red. He started out the day skeptical and finished it a convert; I believe he's put his money down to get in the delivery line.

Oh, another comment I got from him -- and just about everyone I've shown the camera to: "Damn, that's a lot bigger than I expected."
