  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Now that the Dragon is starting to roll out I just wanted some clarification on what kind of performance we can expect re: rolling shutter and IR pollution when using ND's.

It has been mentioned that the Dragon won't have a global shutter but will have reduced rolling shutter artifacts. Will upgrade itself deal with that or are Red requiring the motion mount to be used to eliminate the rolling shutter? Can the Dragon without the motion mount shoot strobes without artifacting?

Similar question about IR. Is a hot-mirror still needed with the Dragon upgrade alone and ND above .9 with the or is the motion mount required?

I thought the answer was in the new mount, not the sensor.

I think it is too early to have a definitive answer... but RED already stated that the Dragon sensor will handle IR better (new OLPF with a different built-in IR protection).
Most likely stronger?

It would be great if Dragon will only require Hot Mirrors from ND1.2 or ND1.5 upward.

I guess time will tell.
George
