I want to buy a good remote follow focus in the 1000-2000$ range. Any advice, experiences, ect.. I have Canon CNE lenses.

I haven't had problems with the DJI, but know a few people who had them die at the worst time-not to mention the D-tap connection needs to be filed down to use on something other then a Ronin. Haven't tried the Cinegears.

I'm looking to get the Redrock Micro Atlas once it's released-should be soon.

Save some more cash for a RT motion. Cinegear will loose signal all the time. And DJI will burnout it's motor within a year. Avoid the Redrock also as they have the same problems. With wireless follow focus you will get what you paid for.

I've had surprising good luck with the Cinegears high torque motor. Of course it's not a Preston, but for 2K I'm totally happy with it.

Great : Rtmotion

pretty strong for the money : DJI

absolute DooDoo don't waste your time: cinegears

personal opinion. Used both RT and DJI at same time
on a job today.

RT has run/Stop and more. Get the Latitude MdR if you don't Go PoeMOD.

Wish I had $5000 to spend on a follow focus, but I really don't. So I'm thinking I'm gonna go with the cinegears. I used it and it worked really well, I was curious if anyone had any good experiences with others in the same price range.

all I hear is horror stories for these things lol

Don't ever buy anything from CineGears the customer service is horrible, I have a bad motor/humb wheel unit and have been trying to reach them to repair it for over 6 months now. I sold mine and will never buy from them again!!!!

My cinegears FF has been working AOK. But when it does die - I'll go with Hocus Products. I have tried to contact cinegears for a purchase via phone - impossible to talk to a human. So I gonna assume all this feedback re: their lack of customer service is true.

Hi Everybody,
We understand that there have been some serious holes in our customer service in the past. Under new leadership we have been striving toward bringing that department up to, and beyond, standard. Part of this upheaval has been increasing our on-phone support system (1-800-693-8883) and improving the turn-around time for RMA cases globally (cinegears.com/rma). We are happy to take support calls over the phone, especially to provide rush support for on-set issues.
We stand behind our equipment, and this goes beyond phone support. Our team designs our products (e.g., wireless follow focus, cablecam system, VR filming rig) from top to bottom. To make something we can be proud of, we are constantly taking in new suggestions and working them in to improvements. There is always room to grow, and our design team takes that to heart. Our gear is designed to stand up to the rigors of on-set use, but everything needs a little TLC from time to time. This is why we have increased our standard warranty to 3-years, and have streamlined our customer->technician->customer RMA process.
If you have any questions or support requests, please do call us or send in an email (reach me directly at nathan.r@cinegears.com).

I bought 2 cine gear wireless ff and right now none of them works and i couldnt get someone to help me out with it, the cusomer service was ... silent.. So they are currently in a drawer taking slowly the dust.
I was impressed at the time by the productand even made a review of it, but as a professional i cant go with equipement that doesnt have a after sale service, even if its for a low price Wireless FF.
I'm currently using DJI Focus, its not better in term of relaibility for they change the unit whitin 12 days if you have a problem of burnt motor (which happen a lot)
I hope Nathan is right and that the customer service is beter now. i might shoot them a email.

Sorry, a little off subject, but Can anyone tell me if the DJI focus be set to turn continuously?

I have a couple of lenses that turn continuously, i.e. the 50 f1.0 and the 85 f1.2 stills (although I could get the cn-e version of the stills if needed).

I know that you can set hard stops on the focus, but the problem is the electronic "fly by wire" focus tends to change position when it comes back to a point. I had the most problems when I had a shoot with a 85mm on a car/ truck rig where the camera was on a remote head (I was using a preston), the focus would keep creeping one way and after a small amount of time I needed to stop the truck and reset the focus point.

But if the focus could be set on a continuous turn, then you would just focus by eye with these lenses.

Even though I had issues with the Cinegears, last shoot the unit was flawless to a point.

A few times I had to reset it.

Still worth the price I paid (few lucky ones that got it under 1200).

I'll vouch for their RMA. They refunded me very quickly on a Ghost Eye TX that didn't pair with a Vaxis RX.
