I'm having problems with the new Cineroid EVF I just bought and hooked up to our Red-One.

Even though I have set the camera monitor menu to DVI and 720, when the EVF "and/or" the camera are first turned on, all I get on the EVF screen are color bars.

The Camera remembers the settings just fine. Evidently, it's the viewfinder that does not remember. Even though the settings on the Red are "locked in" at DVI and 720, every time I restart the camera AND/OR the viewfinder I "have" to go back into the camera menu and RE-CONFIRM and RE-SET those same settings for the Cineroid EVF to change from the color bars to the lens view.

This does NOT happen when I use an external computer HDMI monitor, ONLY when I use the Cineroid. When I'm hooked up to the PC monitor and turn the camera on, the image comes up just fine on the monitor every time. But, the Cineroid EVF will not show anything at first except color bars. Not good, and a real hassle.

I realize this will not be a problem with the BOMB EVF, but I have to use some kind of EVF in the meantime while awaiting the backordered Bomb.

Have any of you Cineroid users had this same problem, and if so, is it correctable?

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

George you have to set the camera output to "video" NOT "DVI" .

I noticed your other posts. The HDMI port is not an HDMI spec so it has been written. This means some monitors will work, some will work sometimes,. and some will not work. I am using an SmallHD6. When it is solid it is fine but if it gets confused for some reason it can be very difficult to get it back online. I have swapped cables and had the monitor replaced. Made no difference. The Red One is not a big fan of non-red monitors. Be sure the monitor gets turned on first. If it does not light up, go to the menues and change them a few times. If you have an sdi monitor hooked up, it will indicate when the Red is handshaking as the SDI display will indicate status (if it is a pani). And use a high quality new cable too!

Let me know how it goes.
