  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

***Cinemills & Filmgear Lights 35% Off***

I don't want to hijack this thread but I just felt obliged to say how fantastically impressed I am with Richard Andrewski's Cool Lights USA lights. We just took delivery of a substantial number of fluorescent banks, soft lights and HMI spots to light our studio. The 4-bank fluoros are easily as good quality as Kinos or Lupos, but the price is gob-smackingly cheap. I highly recommend these lights to anyone.

You just did!:)

Filmgear are just fantastic lights and at the price offered here, well there are that much better.

But I have wonder about the Cool lights my self, especially the HMI's, it is great that companies such as them make products that can serve a much wider spectrum of the user community, so no arm done here, and appreciated the info on them Jim.

LIghting set

Hi,

This looks very interesting. I will research further. If gearing up for a small feature which lights would one recommend? We are shooting a lot of interiors (relatively small spaces) with a few outdoor shoots, ( a couple of night ext.). we are shooting in the Caribbean and will use much natural light. But we need a simple and cost effective set of lights. What would someone who has used these lights recommend and a good basic kit?

Thx.

PD1.

The best kit would be to have a 650w and two 300w, if you can get a 1k i the mix the better, usually electrical outlets are good up to 1200w per Fuse box, of about 20A, so you have to be sure to plug the lights in to different Fuses.

Hmmm, don't see the "download" section for pricing...anyone have a direct link to the prices?

Yeah they are kind of weird that way, I had posted a direct download Pricing list once, but if you are interested just Call or write to Malcolm.

just as good and a better then Arri and Kino

That's a lot of crap, who told you guys that these fixtures are just as good and even better than the originals, words like that really P..... me off.

What filmgear has done, is simply copying other peoples hard work, and trying to make a business out of that, wonder what the RED gyus would say is someone took their camera, and made a 100% copy and then even called it a better product.

No sorry guys I have absolutely no rexpect for companys using tricks like that.. But then again, it just shows how carefull you have to be when all the copyist company's from Asia..

Well, in case you haven't been welcomed to this forum.. welcome!

As far as the gear in question I have stated my opinion based on facts of experience with both products, and to me the Filmgear is just simply better, better Photometric cause of the Lens design, better construction and less clicking parts, do to the much too hold Arri design, better cabling etc. and the fact that I have brought the considerable discount to this community for a great product..

Off course this is my opinion, and you can respect it or not, is up to you, the fact that you believe (for sure knowledge or not) that Filmgear is a copy of Arri, that is an other matter all together and still does not change the fact of quality.

Having said that, I just say that with Arri's new "BLUE" the gap has now way in favor of ARRI, love the new BLUE, a major improvement in all aspects of the product.
