Except for the 9mm member of this lens family made by Kowa for Cinema Products, the lenses cover a Super16mm film camera frame. The 9mm will vignette the corners. There was a modification for the 9mm, which opened the corners just enough for a clear Super16mm view. On some digital cinema cameras with a slightly larger than Super16m film gate sensor window, the vignette may remain.
Mine was modified by Ken Hale at Whitehouse AV in southern California. I understand that Visual Products in Ohio used to also do the mod. It is not recommended that gifted folk do this themselves. Whilst the mod is relatively simple, finding the position of some necessary cutouts requires a sighting test through the lens and removable ink markings drawn on the front element during the sighting. Simple copying of cutout positions from a photograph will not work as the front retention rings position may vary rotationally between different lenses.
The images from the CP Ultra T* lenses in their sweet spots are slighly crisper than Optar Illumina and Optika Elite. A DoP friend preferred the CP lenses over the Optar lenses.
