Jason has a gift with carbon fiber. He made the entire EVF adaptor for the red LCD out of it!

Jason - had to jump on here and plug the carbonate rods again. I just got my rig together and they are absolutely great.
Now I just need a set of 8 inch. Maybe?
Shoot him an e-mail. He had one of my pairs cut to 8". Just took a few extra days.
I have had great experience, up until few weeks ago. I oredred a XLR cable, got charged via pay pal, but never shipped. I emailed him few times, and never got a reply or shipping info. I am waiting but if I don't respone by next week, I'll have to report paypal. As this happened to anyone recently?
Jason - I wasn't aware you'd added end-caps, as I remember an earlier thread where you were against it.That's an interesting question Les. In general, camera rod manufacturers have to adhere to some tight tolerances. If we make the rods too small, they won't grip at all. If we make them too big, they won't fit in the hole. So there isn't too much play in that regard. However, your question could also be regarding "deflection"--the amount a material deforms when placed under a load. I can't speak for other manufacturer's deflection rate, but Our carbon fiber rods are very robust , with a double-weave cross-hatched pattern with multiple layers. This provides virtually no detectable deflection and our rods should clamp reliably time and time again.
Also, I'm curious what makes RedRock's product "pretty" ? I'm simply asking because i don't own a set of their rods to make a fair comparison. We've received many compliments as to the look of our product and many folks have replaced their entire rigs just to acquire our carbon fiber family of rods. If there's anything we can do to make our product better we are determined to provide that for our customers. We've recently added plugs to the ends of our rods due to various customer service requests. And we sent out new plugs to all the customers that have previously purchased rods from us.
I hope this helps to answer your question, and if you have any other questions regarding Carbon Fiber rods, I'm happy to help in any way I can. I can be reached at jason@CinemaOxide.com
This is useful to know there are different sheens, with different gripping properties. You are right Les that at first I was against putting end plugs on the rods because it would increase the cost. However, many customers said they were more than willing to pay for the cost, so there was no reason for me to not add them.
Now regarding the surface texture of the carbon fiber rods-- I think I know what you're referring to. Carbon fiber resin can be set to yield many different sheens. Glossy, semi-gloss, satin, etc. I suppose different sheens could produce different levels of "grip". Of course a glossy finish will slip more than a satin finish. Our rods come in a satin finish primarily to reduce reflections. It will also provide an ancillary benefit for your needs since a satin finish will help you grip the rods as well. Also, if you're planning to glue hand grips on to carbon fiber rods, you'll want to get ones with our satin finish since glossy resin will need to be sanded down and primed before glue will adhere to it.
Hi Thomas,
I have been responding to all your emails and sent you tracking data for your package. It appears your package may have been lost with the postal service by shipping to a foreign country. We were having issues with that in the past, and since then we've completely switched to shipping FedEx International exclusively for that reason. I've been looking into how to resolve this, but there's very little I can do about the postal system other than just offer you a complete refund.
I bought my carbonite scope from the original designer, David Munz, who is apparently suing Jason Comparetto. Last I heard the court date was set for 5th May.
You can buy Munz's scope from stock at a lower price right now.
