  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

CineForm Offers NEO 4K-Mac for Red Support (BETA)

This is perfect timing. I'm on two features right now and one is definitely going with CineForm but I was bit feeling cumbersome because I use Mac mainly. Congratulation CineForm.

Hi,

Where do these LUTs sample should go in? I tried in LUTs, db and custom settings but couldn't load them. Thanks.

By the way, 2k to 2k 444 was around 4fps and 2k to 1k Express was about 9fps to convert on my MacPro 3Ghz x 8. Nice.

Turning the Number of simultaneous conversions to "4" is showing 19.82fps, even nicer.

Hey David,

I installed the Trial and when I go to launch the ReMaster app it fails to launch the UI every time and in terminal says bus failure. The Set Active MetaData Launches just fine and all my system specs meet current specifications. Both my MacBook Pro and MacPro Machines are having the same issue. Only thing i can think is that both are running 10.4.11
Any help?

Mike,

Have you uninstall the previous Mac codec? I made sure I uninstall the old codec and install the Neo Mac beta.

I also found that if there's previous transcode folder or files, it crashed nor doesn't start converting. That might help you?

The LUTs need to be Imported through the Set Active Metadata application. The easiest way is to use File/Import.

Is the 19.8 fps for the 444 or the Express conversion? A 2.2 GHz Macbook converts 4K to Express at between 7 an 8 fps.

At this point you need to quit the application and restart to do additional conversions. You should be able to convert the same file/folder multiple times.

Craig,

Thank you very much for the clarification.

The 19.8fps is 2k to Express on Mac Pro 8 core 3 GHz.

I never had the other codec installed.
Thanks for trying!

Just a thought, sorry you haven't found the cure, tho. All of my systems are running with the latest.

Aslo! I just tried to edit Express in FCP with MXO 1080 23.98 to 29.97 output to Sony D24, it works beautifully. I'm going to try to see how it would work with HD 4:2:2 to HDCAM master to tape today (at 23.976).

While other people asked about the licensing, I wanted to clarify my question, too.
I installed the Mac license once in one of my login accounts on my Mac Pro, then it was only accessible from that particular account but not other accounts in the same boot drive. Is this the case, or should I install the license as "root" then it will let me access from any accounts on that boot drive?

The license should be installed in the root directory on the boot drive. The path the installer and the license check uses is "/Library/Application Support..." The license is for the machine and should be accessible from any account.

Hmmm, I've converted some 2K 16:9 footage to Cineform HD4:2:2, placed them on FCP timeline with its auto adjustment, set the video display to MXO 1080/23.98 or 1080/23.98 to 29.97 and seems to be playing back well. WOW.

I'm going to set up the keyspan adapter and connect to HDCAM M2000 with 9-pin and HDSDI and see what happens. Craig, do you think this is going to be valid system? If it is, we can sell tons.

I guess I expected too much, upon edit to tape stage, alert came back saying "compression is not compatible" for edit to tape. So, I placed the Cineform HD422 sequence to uncompressed 422 timeline, render it for about 40 minutes (for 22 minute long material) then recorded it on HDCAM.

Craig, I don't use AJA products because I had really terrible experiences with people work with them, instead would Multibridge Pro work with Cineform with the device control?

Is audio supported throughout the workflow or does it have to be split off and resynched on the timeline?

Hi Sam, unfortunately Red has not yet turned on audio through the SDK. We're eagerly waiting like everybody else.

I cannot get Remaster to launch on my system either (KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE according to the crash log). Like Mike Burton, I am running 10.4.11, so my issue is probably the same as his. Any further news on that?

My New Macbook Pro arrives tomorrow, so I'll test on Leopard on that.

Nick and others, we confirmed that some compile switches were not set properly in the Build we posted Saturday for support of 10.4. That is now fixed in an internal build. I suspect we'll post the new build later today, worst case tomorrow.

Thanks for the prompt response David. I look forward to trying it out. So long as the update is available within my 15 day trial (started today) that's great.
