Now is your chance to give feedback...

If Adobe were to support .rmd files (no promises or timeframes....) how would you like it to work...

I have 2 thoughts...

1. CS5 is always live with the .rmd. i.e. you change the .rmd in cine and go to CS5 and you get the new settings. You change the settings in CS5 and go to cine and you get the changed settings.

2. Manual.. You get the initial .rmd settings when you import into CS5 and then we save that info. We give you a button to manually update to the rmd and save to the rmd.

3. Something else?

Speak now...

Cheers

I would prefer to make color grading in fly:

When editing in PPro or finetuning an edit to export in AE, would like to jump into Redcine-X and adjust the settings and store the changes in the .rmd files. In addition, if the timeline in PPro was rendered, then the timeline should recognize a change has happened in the .rmd settings.

I like the idea of it being live on both sides. That way you could tweak things a bit in Premiere or AE and if more control is needed jump over to RCX and then back to Premiere. I'd also like the option to manually apply a specific RMD to multiple clips, like a copy and pasted grade.

What happens with clips that need different settings for different parts of the same clip? Could each instance of a clip in the timeline reference a new RMD or is this too complicated?

This should be an option, live or manually.

Personally, I also would be interested in .RMD implementation in PP with Resolve workflow. And here's the man, that's up to the task on the other side- Peter Chamberlain, Head of Resolve product development team (or something to that effect). David- please meet Peter, Peter- please meet David:beer:

Live would be the Adobe Style.. as it works from Photoshop/AE to Premiere to Encore..
I think this is the fastest workflow I ever worked on.. Live .rmd files..
or maybe you can have the two options for the application..

Definately NOT option 1.

I often have more than one project using the same Red footage, and will want different looks for each.

I think in the short term at least we are going to support RMD via reading it as the default settings. Then manually saving when you make changes if you want. You will also be able to manually sync to the current RMD. This I think is the most predictable way to use this feature. We could explore a live version option in the future.

David.
Cudos for seeking advice and feedback from your customers in such an open and proactive manner. It makes me warm and cuddly all over:-) Way to go in showing the rest of the world how it should be done. Keep it up and in no time it will be "what's FCP"?

Whats FCP?

How about the option to choose between 1+2? In large scale production, I sometimes have to make sweeping changes to many clips all at once. I prefer Clipfinder with the QT Proxies in FCP but as RMD becomes the format, I would still prefer Clipfinder to do the mass changing. The only other way to make that viable is if you have the option of updating whole bins worth of clips to RMD changes at one time.
