Just stumbled across this and it got me thinking.

If you had a field monitor with an hdmi port and 2 usb ports, could you use this stick to have an very cheap and primitive offload system for when you are in the field?

I know that there is very little computing power in the stick but that shouldn't matter for offloading right?[/QUOTE]

No. Just, no. It's not gonna happen. Offloading data requires significant CPU, RAM, and bandwidth for memory/storage i/o. It would take a very long time to offload anything with that miniscule amount of hardware power. Those devices are intended for basic computer uses like word processing and internet browsing, things that don't require a lot of system resources.

That's unfortunate to hear. I didn't know offloading was that taxing computationally.

Is is it the same if you are just using the computer as a hub to pass data to a hardrive vs offloading data directly to the computer?
