Chris Doyle talk

[James B.]

Had the opportunity to attend a Chris Doyle discussion, presentation, last night at the TIFF lightbox. Easilly the most inspiring and thought provoking film related talk I've experienced
Earlier interviews where he discusses many of the same things http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8wpFURALzw

[Matthew Bennett]

Oh Chris was in my hometown???!!

How come my damn spidey-senses didn't alert me!!

[Micah Van Hove]

he's the best

[Michael Totten]

So talented & honest. pure

[Dylan Macleod CSC]

It was a pretty interesting discussion. He is pure "artist". Going to see the re-release of Chungking Express at the Lightbox tonight. They said they are going to post the conversation on their site at some point.

[Tim Hole]

He shares the top position along with Storaro as my two favourite cinematographers. Working with Wong Kar Wei is a magical combination. They have created some of the most sensational cinema together. I will always be seduced by them.

[Ted Parkes]

I agree .. last nights presentation was inspiring.

[Jason Murphy]

Yeah, if you ever get a chance to see Chris Doyle talk about anything (and frequently, it seems his talks about cinematography do turn into talks about anything and everything), do it. You won't regret it. He's just great, incredibly funny, and offers a hell of a lot of very good advice on cinematography and filmmaking in general.

[IAN SUN]

Dang missed it : (

[Justen Nguyen]

Dang, Chris Doyle is by far one the most inspiring and artistic cinematographers out there. Definitely my favorite.

Thanks for the links James!

[Ivan Kovax]

Awesome. Thanks for sharing!

Funny story, and my bragging for the day...

I nearly had a BBQ with him here in Tokyo at a mutual friends place!

He was shooting a horror movie in 3D nearby Tokyo, close to mount Fuji. I was at my friends place (also in the industry) having a BBQ, when my wife jabbed me in the ribs after overhearing a phone call and said, "Christopher Doyle is coming!" of course, my luck being the way it is, the shoot went severly overtime that day and he ended up having to miss the BBQ...

I think we would have made great drinking buddies that day... Oh well.

Sooo close. Maybe next time. Heh.
