We use the TVlogic 15 inch 3D OLED. Its supprts HDSDI and HDMI (and will lock to non genlocked sources for set up such as 5D's (we use these to timelapse 3D and set up in Video mode then switch to Stills mode for Tl filming). For the most part we are viewing in 2D overlay which the monitor is perfect. Id not really want anything smaller. What it isnt is an Oncamera display, put it on a stand to set up view what your up to. The recomended nVidia glasses it uses are too dark really but work. Bernard mediburu has some new glasses which he say will work with it which should be much improved. Viewing angle is very wide unlike the passive displays. Its an active display. Its also a great 2D monitor. It doesnt support HIT or grids but we build a small overlay with 2% 3% and 4.5% disparity which is useful as a guide.

What I am looking for is a display that has HIT on it so you can align images shot parralell and also has some sort of Grid to check for disparity. If you find one or any sort of external box please let me know. I should have mentioned. Anything less than 15 inches and its very difficult to see what your doing for critical alignment. We use a 46 or 50 inch display on set for post review.

You might like to check out the new Pana displays that now say they have proffesional colour alignment tools in them and they support 3D, downside is the smallest is 65 inch.....Hopefully a 42, 46 and 50 might emerge. Id think them very good for color grading.

Yeah, the monitor is for on set viewing for the Directors (me + one), and the Cinematographer (also me + one), but yeah for really get good view of 3D there is the need for as large as possible monitor, but
what its more important is that the monitor be really good, and have the needed functions, as far for disparities, I work with a 2k 3D alignment chart, no way to make a mistake on not properly aligning both horizontally and vertically.

I use the marshall alot....the biggest problem with it is at the moment it does not flip or flop images!! this causes a big problem as the only way to use it (on a beamsplitter) is to use a aja-hi5 to flip and flop the images. The problem with that is that it introduces a delay in one eye and makes it impossible to pull convergence off the monitor worse yet anybody looking at it it is uncomfortable due to the delay.

That said....it puts out a great image and the difference mode is hard to live without for alignment. Also the "layout" button is awesome. You can monitor left and right and 3D mux at the same time...I like that it is passive but only the marshall glasses make a clean image. Real D glasses work but leave a purple fringe around highlights at times.....must have something to do with the the polarizer they use....

well....I'm sure marshal is working on a firmware upgrade....so call them. get an update. Because if that problem is fixed it would be a hard monitor to beat.

I know they annouced a 7" verision with the same features that will be hard to beat as well.

For clients/producers video village we usually set up a 45-60" passive TV.

The marshal is more of a technical use monitor....

How is the ghosting in 3d with this set-up?

Thanks,
Rich

Thanks again Pedro and others... ;)

But just made final decision to sale the ATOM 3D rig, and shoot "RAPE of a BEAUTY" utilizing some new amazing Technologies, and concentrate on the Story fill with composition were nothing is limiting my vision!!

... probably a good move.

:-)

... so, why not routing the signal through 2 aja-hi5 .... one flip/flop ... one not .... would the latency vary with the processing?
