Strange question.

Does anyone know if there is a way to check if a Red One has the MX chip without putting on the lens and doing a test.

I have to check a used one before a company I work with purchases it and has it shipped out. Not going to be bringing any lenses with me to run a quick test either. They are paranoid and want to be sure they aren't purchasing an M sensor and going to have to deal with a shipping/ return fiasco.

Is there a place in the menu where you can tell? I appreciate it.

Look for the big RED X at startup in either LCD or EVF - that will confirm it 100%. If you just see the RED logo then it's an M. You won't need a lens.

Also - it should have Mysterium X on the side of the body under the RED (or I've seen some above) - I'm not sure if every MX got this branding though.

Note will only say "red" if SSD module was later added - but will still say "X" on LCD/EVF display at boot-up.

Weren't all cameras rebadged MX on the body when getting the upgrade?

Mine certainly was, on the Side CF module, then I upgraded to the SSD module, which only says RED...

Cheers,
Damien
