Hi Guys, like many I'm amazed at the Scarlet and now just wondering what would be the cheapest possible way to make the camera actually capture some images. I have a bit of Canon glass so that is not an issue and I also have a Lilliput HDMI monitor. My take is below:

Scarlet-X Brain + AC Power Adaptor + SSD Side Module + Canon Mount = $9,750
REDmote = $550
64gb SSD = $950
REDmag Station = $250
-------------------------------
Total = $11,500
-------------------------------
(Canon glass and Liliput monitor already owned)

I don't see any ac power adapter, batteries or charger..?!

I think you may need the touch screen for controlling the menus. Not sure about that one though.

You may be able to substitute with ether the side handle or the REDMOTE.

Sad thing is when the Scarlet was first announced the price point was around $5,000 all in if I can remember correctly. Pricing now has gone and blown a lot of people out of the water (myself included) and they'll probably jump onto Canons new 4K DSLR. Not really where I want to be.

I have made the following list for me, i think its all in to work with the Scarlet.

The price is around 23K but dont forget, this are only 20 paid jobs
to amortize the camera and i will have the Scarlet for the next 2 years.

Lenses are a good point to save money, also a good point to lose quality. I take the PL mount and the RED 17-50mm + 85mm lenses.

- SCARLET-X W/ Ti PL MOUNT / SIDE SSD

- RED STATION REDMAG 1.8"

- REDVOLT 4 PACK

- TRAVEL CHARGER

- REDMAG CASE (4)

- 4xREDMAG 128GB

- 5" TOUCH LCD

- DSMC SIDE HANDLE

- REDMOTE

- OUTRIGGER HANDLE

- RED PRO MATTEBOX

- SLIDING TOP HANDLE

- TACTICAL TOP PLATE
(Not marked as Scarlet accessorie)

- MODULAR ASSAULT PLATE
(Not marked as Scarlet accessorie)

What 4K DSLR? you mean there 16 grand 1080P camera that doesn't deliver 4k? PS change your name to your real one or get banned

Thats what I'm hoping. The touch screen would be a dream but the REDmote (if fully operational) can control everything that the 5.0 Pro Touch Screen can (at least it can on the Epic) and is one third the price.

Would it be possible to power you red with a redbrick (or thirtparty battery)and power you thirtparty 12v monitor with the same brick?

The Scarlet with AI Canon mount comes with AC power adaptor for mains power. In my example above i called this Mains Power :)

Oh got you...that's cool..! Def keeps the price down..!

Hi all

if I'm not mistaken you can use RedBricks via e.g. the Belt Clip (it's marked as Scarlet compatible in the store). This could also work with "regular" V-Mount batteries as I think RedBricks ressentially are V-Mount batteries. Benefit is that you get longer runtimes (RedVolts are a measly 20-30min according to a thread I saw). But you also add weight and additional items to lug around (RedVolt goes into the SideHandle).
