  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Cheapest Casting Couch in NY?

Wow, I'm surprised you have so little faith in RED at this point. C'mon, shoot with RED, everything will be alright:biggrin: As far as rental, have you spoken with Vladimir Eugene about renting his? I think he's gotta a pretty good deal. Speak to him, you might find it pretty doable.

Hey, is this gonna be in English? just curious.

I don't have too little faith in Red... It's just that there are still some issues that I am trying to figure out. The next step will be to actually look at the camera in action. Maybe I'll ask some nice Red owner if I can tag along on their next Red shoot. Regarding Vladimi Eugene, where can I contact him? Is he on the 'For Rent' board?

By the way, I PM'd you back. Thanks.

If you don't already know, one relatively cheap alternate route in S16mm is transferring the negative to HDCAMSR...

I am also looking at this possibility. Laser Pacific has this workflow on offer. They call it the "InDI". Looks very promising. Do you know of a better or cheaper place to do it?

"although I am looking at Pixel Harvest, who claim to do an entire feature scan at 2K for only $5,000!"

i've seen it , friends had their 92min feature scanned ( neg) at pixel .. i've only seen sections ( 20 sec sections of about 8 scenes on 1080p projection - we were checking it for quality - it was scanned one light - lo-con ) .. the data files were CC timed at Alpha-Cine in seattle ... this week they are striking a print of 1st reel ( arri laser printer) - i'll be out of town so won't see it till after X mas ...

Too bad you won't see it sooner. I would love to hear some feedback on the quality of Pixel Harvest... because that is just too good of a price...

If you're still looking for a Casting Location check out Ripley-Grier.

Thanks for this! At $160 a day it looks pretty good. I am sure I can negotiate a cheaper rate for the 5 days that I would need it for. Also the "voted best by Back Stage" sign doesn't hurt.

That's the kind of venue you really need for this. It would make things more comfortable for you and summon more respect for your project from the actors. Good luck.

Except it will probably be closer to $320. They'll almost certainly insist you take a second room as a waiting area for the actors.

You should be able to get a small theater for less than that. Anyway, I'm out of suggestions!

Oops. I was going by one of their floor plans that had a waiting area with no price on it. I assumed that was part of the rental. I'll look into it on monday when they open. By the way, I really appreciate all of your suggestions.

just get the one room and bring some material/blankets and clip em to the ceiling. BAM! 2 rooms instantly.
