I'm looking for a tripod spreader for my new tripod (vinten 5LF), which was originally used with a dolly? Do I even need one? The legs don't seem to lock.

Very smooth tripod for a non-fluid head.
 
The spreader is just added protection in case someone forgets to lock the legs (or if the locks give out). Sorry, don't have experience with Vinten, but ideally I'd buy one from the same manufacturer.
