Hello all!

I am looking for a cheap Sony SRW-1 HDCAM-SR VTR for purchase. Interested with or without the Sony SRPC-1 Video Processing Unit. Interested with or without the HRSK-101, HRSK-102 and HRSK-103 option cards.

I'm located in Nashville, TN, USA. Therefore, it is preferable that the unit be available for sale and shipment from within the United States.

Please be aware - it is currently quite easy to buy one of these recorders on ebay in the $3,000 range. I realize these units started their life worth well over $50k. However, given the current economics on eBay, any offers exceeding $5k simply aren't competitive, and will be ignored.

Most interested in offers in the $1,000 range. Will consider higher offers that are competitive.

Yes, I'm lowballing. But tape is the past. If I wanted to invest lots of money, I'd buy SSDs and a RED Dragon.

Why don't you get a Cinedeck EX, it can do everything the SRW1 can do but with no SR tape. It can also record direct to Prores 4.4.4. and Avid DNX as well as uncompressed. We are selling one in like new condition for $1500.

That's an excellent offer. However... it won't work for my purposes.

I actually own a Sony F35 and not one but two Sony SR-R1 recorders (SRMaster file based codec).

What I need the SRW-1 for is the proprietary communication protocol it has with the camera through the dock mechanism. I intend to reverse engineer the communication protocols involved so I can emulate the dock connection and link the camera to other recorders, particularly the Sony SR-R1.

So, to my knowledge, only three products are compatible for this purpose - the OB.1, the Codex Onboard, and the SRW-1. My expectation is the SRW-1 will be the most economical to work with of the three.

The Cinedeck EX doesn't have this communication protocol, so it won't work.
