Hi Friends,

I don't own a laptop and I cannot buy a real one this year because I've spent serious $$$$$ on camera stuff.

I have a 3 day travel job coming up and I'd like to get a laptop just to copy my Mini-Mags at the end of the day. We will have a DIT, but I'd like to be able to copy files and view the dailies back at the hotel at night.

It would be nice if this Samsung Chromebook 3 (4 gigs of RAM) could play back R3D, but for the price I'd be happy just scrolling through and viewing still frames just to check the exposure and focus. Obviously would not be using it for real work, just copying files and previewing dailies.

What is possible with these meager specs?

Thanks

The first problem I see is just 1 USB 3.0 port...

Why not spend a few more $$ and get a similar spec laptop (PC) - that won't be as limited as a Chromebook?

I have an old HP laptop (new in 2012) that was just a 4GB consumer model - and that played R3D's at smaller rez & was functional with Premiere. Not a machine to heavy lift on - but good enough to get a feel for footage.

Can't play R3Ds unless you're running Windows, OS X or Linux.
