Che Theatrical HD Trailer Is Up

I mentioned this Tuesday night in the other CHE trailer thread. Guess I should have started a new one. Trailer looks good though. Interesting to see how the prototype REDs performed amidst the various lighting conditions.

Looks great!

If anyone has any information on where it will be playing in LA, please pass it along, I'd like to see it next weekend.

I am looking SO much forward to see these two movies. Heck - I'm looking forward to be able to invite my girlfriend to the movies and show her a movie that's shot with the camera I've been babbling on about for the past 2-3 years :-)

Edit: Just saw the 1080p version and was rather disappointed. I thought it looked absolutely horrible - not because the footage is horrible but because it's obvious that the guys that compressed these have no clue what they were doing. I saw scenes from the movies projected on the big screen at IBC and they looked stunning. Web-compression like this just sucks the life out of the pictures and makes it look like it was shot on an HVX or something.

Just wanted to chime in- I watched Che at a private screening hosted by Soderberg ( projected from film )

Che looks like it was shot on film. Period.

Consider yourself lucky you even got to see the stuff shown at IBC, I couldn't even watch the 1080p version that your calling shit I had to watch the 480p version cause I'm on a powerbook G4 here and I was happy seeing even that.

Must said i agree, the 1080hd looks like a 520p image resized?

Now the cinematography looks great, i guess have to see on the big screen to really know how red footage compare to film...

Guys,

the trailer looks very good.

It is sometimes a bit "dirty" because it was an artistic purpose to make it in a period documentary (60's) or diary style.

Hope all of you would get it finally when you see the movie in theater.

Sanjin - I wasn't talking about the black'n'white, grainy retro-look; I get that... What I don't get is the washed out colors, lack of detail and seriously poor contrast. Also - it's just soooft due to the compression. I don't want to post any grabs as that would probably be a copyright violation of sorts but take a look at the 1080p version and it's obvious.

Tony,

maybe,

I don't know!?

How did you calibrate your monitor?

But let's wait if they would have a trailer at the Apple's movie trailer site.

I've been waiting to see this for a while, and agree.....
I'll wait to comment after I see it on the big screen....looks warm though.
It's -27 here right now.:cold:

i saw the double feature as well on a private screening and i gotta say there are some parts that kinda look video... sorry.
BTW i really liked the films!

I seem to remember red saying that Che was shot with very early prototypes and using something like redcode 24. The anamorphics were also shot with a smaller window than we can shoot with now.
