  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The SUpodcast got some pictures this morning of the EPIC. During sound check, audio sounded perfect. While shooting on Steadicam, I don't use headphones and for some reason after starting the interview with Ted, interference came in, ruining the audio. :'( We will get another interview at RED Day with Ted, tomorrow.

EDIT: Due to a number of requests, we have decided to offer the video in spite of the intermittent interference in the audio. If you don't like the video, you don't have to tell me that it stinks. I'm actually not uploading it for you...only the ones who wanted to see it in spite of it's flaws. :) http://vimeo.com/10921200 is the link, and as I type this it still has a few minutes left to encode. Hopefully everything loads properly...if not, I will fix it in about 6 hours. In the meantime, I am taking a nap... :) Enjoy!

Great! Does Epic feel like a mini tank? I bet it's tough as nails... hope I get to hold one tomorrow.

I think a lot of people don't yet realize how much the reduced size and weight of the EPIC is going to reduce the cost of associated camera support equipment from things like fluid heads and tripods to Steadicam, dolly support, gear heads and jib/cranes. There are so many great Indie solutions for lighter weight cameras and jibs/stedicams/fluid heads and etc. for lighter weight cameras cost so much less with same functionality. For example, I have a great pan, tilt 10' jib I paid $2,500 for that works great with my Z1U (and that I can carry with me) but I have to strip my Red down to nothing and use lightest lens to fly it on that. The EPIC will change all that!

This question is inevitable so I might as well just ask it: Did he say anything about the Scarlet?
 
Joseph would you be compromised by giving us an approximate weight for the configuration that you were holding? How was the ergonomics?
